Philippians 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” NIV
I know that you have all been waiting to hear about our newest grandchild. I appreciate all the kind words, emails, and calls that I received while we were gone. I was truly touched by all the prayers that went up on behalf of our family, especially for our daughter and her new little family. God truly blessed our family, covering us with His grace and mercy during this time. The video called Joseph’s Lullaby by Mercy Me is not by me nor are the pictures little Roger. But the words are so powerful, speaking volumes about how I think every father feels when he gazes at the face of his newborn son.
Our newest grandchild, Roger Lynn came into the world on sweetheart’s birthday. It was quite a journey he made to get here. He was 8 lbs and 12 oz, looking like a little linebacker! Next to youngest daughter and her husband have much to be proud of. He is a handsome little man. The staff at the hospital were so good to our family, tolerating our anxious inquiries and taking good care of everyone. I am forever grateful to the well trained doctors and nurses who watch over our loved ones and ignore our silly attempts to run the show. Ask any mom and she will tell you that she knows far more about her children than those “strangers”. But thankfully, God shuts the mouth of the foolish, keeping things on track and moving things forward in His own time.
Childbirth is hard enough on a woman without adding the fear of things not going right. Our daughter was so brave when they told her that little Roger was not cooperating, making a cesarean section necessary. All of her brothers and sisters rallied around her from wherever they were in the world, covering her with praise, prayers, and words of comfort. There are times when this technology that I sometimes despise comes in quite handy! I sent out two prayer requests to my prayer warrior sisters and within minutes I could feel the heartfelt pleas rising up from them. Sweetheart and I were covered with God’s mercy, leaving us to concentrate on our daughter and not our fear. Our Abba knows our needs and never deserts us.
So it is that our family grew a little bigger this week. Not just with the birth of precious Roger but with the addition of new friends made in the waiting. We are more comforted by the knowing that daughter has been sent Godly women to minister to her in the days that we are not able to be there. Sometimes you think that you are praying for one thing, begging God in your petition for what you think your child needs, only to find out that He has the ultimate plan in mind. When He shows you the results, you can only fall to your knees in admiration for His grace and mercy. Thank you dearest friends for your prayers, your words, your thoughts. We felt each and every one of them, finding peace in the comfort of your love. May God bless you for the strength of your friendship. I pray His grace on your lives, that He may bless you with the gifts you desire, the love you need, and the peace that surpasses all understanding. Till tomorrow dear friends. Much love and hugs from our family to you.
