1 Thessalonians 5:11 “So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.”
Can you encourage someone for 4 days? Come along and open the gift box that is filled with encouragement. Prayerfully pick two (or more!) people that you know and send them a daily encouragement. A quote, a scripture, a prayer. Anything that will bring a smile to their face when they open up their in box or pick up their phone.
It doesn’t have to be elaborate. It doesn’t have to be wordy. One sentence will do.
On Easter Sunday, come before the Lord with the names of your two friends. Ask Him to cover them with His mercy and grace. Ask Him for two more names, and then the next Sunday two more names and so on and so on. Before long, your life will be so full of encouraging thoughts for other people that you will realize that you aren’t focusing on yourself anymore. In the process you will find that God has been encouraging you through the very words you are using for them.
I am going to start today with this new project. I have over 350 “friends” on my facebook, over 50 family members, dozens of ministry friends. I have over 400 contacts on my phone. To be sure I will be at this for a couple of years. But that is alright by me. Imagine opening your inbox every day and finding a true encouraging word from a friend (or a stranger). How blessed we will all be.
Dearest Father, As we come into the Easter Season let us be mindful of all that we have. We are blessed by more than we ever deserved. Our poorest people here in America have more than the richest of many nations. Let us share everything until there is nothing left to share for we know that You will cover our needs with Your grace and mercy. Give a smile to face of someone in need. Fill our hearts and minds with someone who needs Your words through us. In the name of Your most precious Son, Jesus, Amen
