I am in the process of changing my blog over to a different format. I have been wrestling for a while with changing it and how I wanted to go about it. My extremely creative web guru Carol (the design diva!) is so wonderfully patient with me as I change this and tweak that. I love the fact that she can see “me” through my writing and make the perfect design. There may be something different on the website every day until the restart! Once I get it all figured out there will be a big Grand ReOpening of The Unclaimed Gift with some cool giveaways. I am thinking maybe 2 years from Tuesday….LOL. No seriously. I plan on doing it on January 1. What better way to do a restart than to do it on the first day of the year!
I am learning about all kinds of cool platforms like RaffleCopter, Instagram, and the ever faithful Twitter. I guess I will finally have to join the modern world and start using more technology. It is difficult for me because I am such a klutz with technology. If I can break it, freeze it, or accidentally modify it….I do. it makes my sweetheart crazy.
I am going to do a five day posting plan. Reflective Moments Monday will be for thoughts on the previous days sermon, things from the past that shaped my life, and moments that have changed my journey. Traveling Tuesdays will be used for keeping up with my journey, especially when I am on the road. It will be where I also do hotel/restaurant/vacation reviews as they occur. Wednesday Women will be posts about those of us that are in the middle of our lives (get it…middle of the week…hey it made sense to me) Some words of wisdom from those who are in the middle, advice from those who have been there, and thoughts of those who are headed in that direction and need our guidance. Tips and Treats Thursdays will be all about cooking! My secondary passion in life is cooking. It occurred to me that I was always trying to figure out a way to teach women, especially younger women, how to make magic in the kitchen. I spent the summer cooking with my grand daughters and my daughters, watching them, teaching them, learning from them. There is no longer the connection between women that our mothers had. We don’t teach each other to cook. No one shows the younger women the joy of burying your hands in yeasty dough, listening for the satisfying pop of a just cooled jar of homemade jelly, or feeling your heart swell with pride as you watch your loved ones gather around the table to feast on a meal you made from scratch. Fantastic Friday will be for everything we didn’t get around to. Questions answered. Thoughts shared. Songs learned. I am so excited to start this new journey with you. Counting the days till we take that first step together!
